Day1 (Arrive Paro):
We bet you can start your photography passion right from the moment you board Druk Air for Bhutan. The journey to Paro on a clear day can be a treat for a photographer with a great view of Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and other peaks in Bhutan such as Jumolhari, Jichu Drake and Tsering gang. On arrival at the Paro airport, you will be received by our representative from Bhutan Vajra Adventures and check you in your hotel.
In the afternoon visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan which is rated as one of the best natural history museums in Asia. Ta Dzong offers varied collections ranging from ancient armor to textiles, thangkha paintings and natural life. Then walk down the trail to visit ParoDzong (RinpungDzong), built during the time of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 from where you can capture the best view of the dzong and the underlying valley of Paro.
Day 2 (Thimphu):
After breakfast drive to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan passing through historic sites, countryside farm houses and beautiful paddy fields by the riverside. You will be dedicating the whole day touring Thimphu valley which includes visit to;
Tashichho dzong; the beautiful fortress/monastery, which houses Secretariat building, King’s Throne room and other government’s offices. It is also the summer residence of Chief Abbot,the Je Khenpo.
Handicrafts Emporium; it displays wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products.
Day 3 (Thimphu):
Today you will drive to Dodena, 20 kms away from Thimphu town and hike to Tango Monastery, the university for Buddhist studies. This monastery is the first of its kind in Bhutan to offer master level Buddhist studies for the monks. You will walk through some area of Jigme Dorji Wildlife Sanctuary that falls under the vicinity of Thimphu. If lucky, you will be able to spot rare birds in this area because there is a thick forest along the riverside. After returning you will drive to Dochula for an overnight stay at the top of the pass. Dochula pass offers the most spectacular view over the high peaks of the eastern Himalayas on a clear day.
Day 4 (Wangdi/Punakha):
Drive to Punakha after breakfast.Until 1955, Punakha served, as the capital town of Bhutan and still it is the winter seat of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. Visit to Punakha Dzong, built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 17th century and situated at the junction of Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. In the afternoon drive to Wangdiphodrang to see the gigantic Dzong which is well known for its unique architecture.over night stay at Wangdi.
Day 5 (Trongsa):
Depart for Trongsa, driving through Pele La Pass. This pass is traditionally considered the boundary between western and central Bhutan. Further ahead stop en route at Chendbji Chorten, built in 18th century in Nepalese style. The landscape around Tongsa is spectacular and for miles on end the dzong seems to tease you so that you wonder if you will ever reach it. After reaching Trongsa, visit Tongsa Dzong built in 1647 by Zhabdrung, which is the most impressive dzong in Bhutan. Then visit the Ta Dzong, standing on the side of the mountain built to guard the dzong and the underlying valley of Trongsa.
Day 6 (Trongsa to Bumthang) :
Drive to Bumthang after the breakfast. Bumthang is the general name given to a complex of four valleys — Chumey, Choekhor, Tang and Ura with alt, varying from 2,600m to 4,000m. In the afternoon visit Kurje Lhakhang, one of the most sacred places in Bhutan as Guru Rinpoche meditated here. From Kurje monastery; a tarmac road heads south along the right bank of the river to the Jambey Lhakhang. Like Kyichu Lhakhang in the Paro valley, this temple is said to be the first that King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet constructed in 7th century. In the evening take a stroll around Bumthang town.
Day 6 (Bumthang): Visit to Tamshing Lhakhang (housing some of the oldest wall paintings in Bhutan) founded in 1501 by PemaLingpa and Mebartsho (popularly known as burning lake). Later, we will visit Jakar Dzong from where you can get a great view of the flat Bumthang valley. In the evening, you may walk around the town.
Day 7 (Phobjikha):
Begin drive back to west enroute Phobjikha, the winter roosting place of a black-necked crane bird with lunch at Chendibji.Continue towards Wangdi.
Day 8 (Paro):
Drive back to Paro with lunch at Thimphu.
Day 9 (Paro):
Start early for a short hike to the famous Tigers Nest Monastery which is not thing to miss being in Bhutan. We assure you great shots here with great view of the paro valley and the monastery that is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer cliff of nearly 900 meters above the floor of Paro valley. It is said that in the second half of the 8th century, Guru Padma Sambhava, the saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan visited this monastery upon the back of a tigress., hence the name Taktsang (tiger’s nest)
Horseback rides are also available if you opt not to walk.
Day 10 (Depart):
Depart for your onward destination from Paro International Airport.
